Why are we offering this?
For more than 20 years, art students have learned to draw from bad reproductions
of the Charles Bargue Drawing Course.
Photocopies. Scans. Digital prints.
Unfortunately, with bad copies valuable information is lost:
- Delicate halftones disappear
- Edges become softer
- Subtle values disappear
- Details are simplified
Yet these are precisely the qualities that make the Bargue Course
such an extraordinary drawing teacher.
We wanted to change that.
After more than 4 years of research, we recreated the Charles Bargue Drawing Course using the same printing technique employed in the nineteenth century:

For the first time since 1887, students can once again study from plates comparable to those used in the 19th century academic ateliers.
You simply have to see it with your own eyes.

As previously mentioned, this lithograph is free. All we ask is that you help us cover the shipping and handling costs. We’ll send your Bargue plate anywhere in the world!
The normal price for a plate of this size (12x16in) is €67 / $76 + shipping.
You will only pay for the shipping and handling.
We’ll offer the lithograph plate (taking time to make the lithographic print on high-quality paper, work to prepare the packaging, go to the post office, etc.).
Bargue Encore is the only edition that allows artists to experience the
